You would never think of the iphone as a device accessible to visually impaired people because of its flat touch screen. It looks like it’s actually quite the opposite.

But no more. For its fans and advocates in the visually-impaired community, the iPhone has turned out to be one of the most revolutionary developments since the invention of Braille. That the iPhone and its world of apps have transformed the lives of its visually impaired users may seem counter-intuitive — but their impact is striking.

Two quotes from the Steve Jobs’s biography by Walter Isaacson:

Back then, people weren’t comfortable with technology. If you’re scared of something, then you won’t touch it. I could see my mum being scared to touch it. So I thought, if there’s this handle on it, it makes a relationship possible. It’s approachable.

Google Drive was initially planning of offering just 2Gb of free storage

I just stumbled across a dribbble shot by Haraldur Thorleifsson , the designer that originally worked on the design for the Google Drive website. As you can see from the original concept, Google was probably planning on offering just 2Gb of free storage. Offering 5Gb will probably be a great incentive for Dropbox users to switch over.

Fantastic article about the science of human habits and how companies can learn and exploit them to increase sales.

Consumers going through major life events often don’t notice, or care, that their shopping habits have shifted, but retailers notice, and they care quite a bit. At those unique moments, Andreasen wrote, customers are “vulnerable to intervention by marketers.” In other words, a precisely timed advertisement, sent to a recent divorcee or new homebuyer, can change someone’s shopping patterns for years.

And among life events, none are more important than the arrival of a baby. At that moment, new parents’ habits are more flexible than at almost any other time in their adult lives. If companies can identify pregnant shoppers, they can earn millions.
